În pofida conjuncturii nefavorabile pe care o traversăm, cauzată de dezechilibrele interne accentuate de impactul sever al pandemiei Covid-19, consolidarea drumului României către euro, și implicit comunicarea despre exigențele monedei unice europene, reprezintă o oportunitate, fiind parte a soluției și nu a problemei.

The global financial crisis has pushed central banks to broaden and heavily exploit their monetary toolkits as well as to find new instruments for the more delicate financial stability domain. One weapon in the arsenal, forward guidance, had be put to good use on the monetary policy field as central bankers strived to tame markets, buy time for reforms and persuade the public of the existence of a light at the end of the tunnel.

Bancherii centrali îndrăznesc să supere. Desigur, nu este treaba lor să se pronunțe asupra unor opțiuni politice, sociale sau geostrategice! Dar e datoria lor să prezinte publicului implicațiile și riscurile la adresa stabilității prețurilor și a celei financiare. E scris în mandate. Și e corect să le pretindem să ne informeze mereu pentru ca noi, publicul larg, și implicit cei aleși să ne reprezinte, să poată decide ce vrem și ceea ce nu dorim să ne asumăm.
De ce s-ar aventura băncile centrale să ‘interfereze’ în comunicarea lor publică pe alte subiecte, ca de exemplu pe teme fiscal-bugetare a căror responsabilitate ține de resortul altor autorități publice…
